About Vietnamese Pho
Pho is a Vietnamese Soup consisting of broth, rice noodles called banh pho, a few herbs and meat primarily made with either beef or chicken. Vietnamese Pho is popular street food in Vietnam and the specialty of a number of restaurants chain around the world.
Vietnamese Pho likely evolved from similar dishes; for example, villagers in Vân Cù say they ate pho long before the French colonial period. The modern form of the dish emerged between 1900 and 1907 in northern Vietnam, southeast of Hanoi in Nam Định Province, then a substantial textile market.

- Onion – 1 big & 1 small
- Ginger – 1 medium
- Black Cardamom Pod – 1
- Star Anise – 2
- Cloves – 4
- Rock Sugar – 2 Inches
- Cinnamon Bark – 1
- Beef Bone Broth – 3 Cups
- Water – 3 Cups
- Kosher Salt – 1 tsp
- Fish Sauce – 1 tbsp
- Pho Noodles – 1 cup
- Bean Sprouts – 1.5 cups
- Thai Basil – 1/2 cups
- Lemon – 1
- Green Onions – 1/2 cups
- Hoisin Sauce – 2 tbsp
- Sriracha – 2 tbsp
- Raw beef steak slices – 2 cups

Steps to make Vietnamese Pho
Peel 1 big onion and ginger slice them in the middle place them on a baking sheet flip them over skin side up and broil for 15 minutes.
Toast all the spices i.e. Black Cardamom Pod, Star Anise, Cloves, Rock sugar, Cinnamon Bark on medium sauce pan on high heat. Mix them around so they don’t burn and one they are toasted put them in a tea strainer. Place the broil ginger and onion in that pan.
Pour 3 cups beef bone broth in the same pan and add equal amount of water and put the tea strainer in that pan. Add Rock sugar, 1 tsp of kosher salt, 1 tbsp of fish sauce and mix them all together and let it simmer for 30 minutes. After 10 minutes remove the tea strainer which contain spices.
Take some bean sprouts, thai basil, lemon for toppings. Boil the noodles nicely. Once the noodles get separate from each other remove the noodles from the container. Cut some onions and green onions for mixture of veggies and keep them aside.
Lets prepare the vietnamese pho bowl, place some fresh noodles line it with some thinly sliced raw beef steak, add some veggies which we created earlier. After 30 min when the pho broth get boiled nicely pour some pho broth in that bowl so that the raw beef steak slices get cook. Add some bean sprouts, thai basil and squeeze the lemon on top of the pho bowl and a little bit of sriracha and hoisin sauce and mix them.
