About Chicken Shawarma
Shawarma also Shaurma and other spellings, is a Middle Eastern meat preparation based on the doner kebab of ottoman Turkey.
Originally shawarma is made of lamb or mutton but now a days shawarma may also be chicken, beef or veal cut in thin slices and stacked in a cone like shape on a vertical rotisserie.

The quantity of ingredients used for Chicken Shawarma is for 2. So, adjust the quantity accordingly…
- All Purpose Flour – 250 gram
- Baking Soda – 1/4 tsp
- Baking Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Curd – 3 tbsp
- Lukewarm Water – 1/2 cup
- Boneless Chicken Chopped – 150 gram
- Cabbage – 1/2 cup
- Bell Pepper (Red, Green & Yellow) – 1 cup
- Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
- Red Chilly Powder – 1 tsp
- Black Pepper – 1 tsp
- Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
- Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
- Food Color – 1 tsp
- Tomato Ketchup – 2 tbsp
- Mayonnaise – 2 tbsp

Steps to make Chicken Shawarma
In a big bowl take 250 grams of All purpose flour add 1/4 tsp of baking soda, 1/2 tsp of baking powder, salt to taste and 1 tsp of sugar. Mix all the ingredients well and add 1 tbsp of oil and mix . Add 1 tbsp of curd and mix again. The flour should be mix properly. Take 1/2 cup of Lukewarm water, add some water and add mix again. Add half cup of lukewarm water simultaneously for 7-8 minutes. Add oil and mix till the flour on the hand get removed. Make a loave of dow and cover it with the plate.
Take a chopped boneless chicken thin strips, Chopped 1 cup of bell pepper (Red, Green & Yellow) and 1/2 cup cabbage. All the things should be chopped in long thin strips.
For marinating the chicken take a bowl put boneless chicken add 2 tbsp curd, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp red chilly powder, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp lemon juice and red-orange food color 1/2 tsp. Mix all the ingredients well and keep aside for marination for 10 minutes.
Take a pan add 1 tbsp of oil add the marinated chicken and separate them and cook till the water get soaked. Add the chopped cabbage and bell pepper toss them and let them cook a little bit. The vegetable should not be cooked to much, it should be crispy. Our Shawarma filling is ready.
Take the Dow and divide into 2 equal parts. Roll the dow round in a 7 diameter rotisserie. Mark it with the fork so the rotisserie should not get fat or be baked when cooking. Take a non stick pan and cook the dow in a medium flames atleast for 5 minutes. The dow should get a little light brown color on the dots.
Take the Rotisserie and spread some tomato sauce and mayonnaise. On top put the filling of chicken and roll the Rotisserie and wrap it with a tissue paper.
