Ingredients

The quantity of ingredients used for Besan Laddu is for 20 pieces. So, adjust the quantity accordingly…

  • Coarse Gram Flour (Besan) – 2 cup
  • Pure Ghee – 1/2 cup
  • Crushed Sugar Powder – 1.5 cup
  • Green Cardamom Powder (Elaichi powder) – 1/4 tsp
  • Chopped Almonds – 2 tbsp
  • Chopped Cashews – 2 tbsp
  • Chopped Pistachios – 2 tbsp

Steps to make Besan Laddu

In a Kadai (Frying pan), add 7*8 tbsp of Ghee for heat. The ghee should be good heated. After heating ghee add Coarse Gram Flour (Besan) and mix it well for more than 30 minutes. Roast the flour (Besan) till it become golden brown in color. Add 2 tbsp of ghee and mix again for 10 minutes.

The flour (besan) should start giving a nice nutty fragrance and it will start releasing ghee. Take 1 tbsp of water on your hand and sprinkle the water on top of the flour and mix again. Mix well, foam and granules will start forming in the flour (besan).  Add chopped almonds and cashews and again mix well.

It is time consuming so, the mixing of flour and other ingredients should be good. Remove the flour (besan) in a plate or a container and keep it to cool completely. 

When the flour gets cool, add green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp, add sugar powder 2 cup.  Mix all the ingredients. The flour (besan),  sugar powder and green cardamom powder should be mixed well. The mixture should be mixed by your hand. Add 2 tbsp ghee and mix again.

Make the mixture into tight hard balls, pressing hard at every stage. At the top of each laddu press pistachios keep it pressed a little. Shape each laduu into a neat rounded ball.
